Prayer Shawl Ministry

If you can knit or crochet, please consider making a prayer shawl for the ministry to give to someone in need of physical warmth and spiritual support.  The recipients of the shawls are reminded of God’s ever-present Love and are so appreciative.  Patterns are available on the bulletin board and there are samples of Lion Brand Homespun Yarn (the recommended yarn) in the narthex.  Contact the church office if you have any questions.

New Small Group Bible Study to Begin

“Uppity Women of the Bible” Small Group Bible Study will begin Wednesday, February 1, at noon.  This study focuses on Ruth, The Song of Songs, Esther and Judith.  We will begin our study with Ruth.  In seven engaging sessions, participants will be taken on an enlightening journey through the Book of Ruth.  Study leader, Dr. Lisa Wolfe, considers the vulnerability of widows and the difficult situation of foreigners in biblical times.  She explores themes of loyalty, bitterness, courage, poverty and seduction.  What really happened on the threshing room floor?  Combining humor and careful scholarship, this study invites participants to re-read the book with new insight and understanding for all its characters, especially the intelligent, confident-even uppity-heroine Ruth.  D.J. Murray will facilitate this DVD-led study.  Bring a sack lunch.  Sign up on the sign-up sheet located on the table in the church narthex.
